Why Side Projects are Vital for Creatives

Advice

Find that ‘passion project’ that you think has potential to turn into something big. Then put your heart into it, show enthusiasm, and good things will happen.

Role Model : I don't have just one. I admire people for different reasons. There is not one person that is the uber-role model. At the end of the day, we are all human and we all have sides that we are not so proud of or need improvement. But the people I would consider role models for some of their qualities and/or achievements are: Steve Jobs for his vision, Jim Coudal for inspiring me to go client less, Michael Bierut for his wit and impressive speaker abilities on stage, Jessica Hische for being the most efficient person I have ever watched working, Milton Glaser for never losing his passion for what he does and his incredible eloquence, Ben Chestnut, founder of Mailchimp for the company culture he's created, John Maeda for his thoughtfulness and support, Ping Fu for her resilience and Scott Belsky for his attention to detail.
