It helps if you really want this. Some sort of hunger or desire to do good work is very helpful. You need to have common sense and an ability to get things done. You need to be unstoppable, in that you can climb walls and overcome hurdles.
Stefan Sagmeister is a New York-based graphic designer and typographer. He is the founder of Sagmeister Inc. He has designed album covers for Lou Reed, OK Go, The Rolling Stones, David Byrne, Aerosmith and Pat Metheny. Sagmeister has received several Grammy Awards for his work.
